An Intrepid Trip – my second article on Cruisin’
My collaboration with the Cruisin’ staff is goin’ on as you can see but this time i’ve got something different for you: some of you may object im a bit off topic but we’re still speaking of things made with metal and propelled by an engine, so i don’t see any problem at all.
La mia collaborazione con i ragazzi di Cruisin’ prosegue e come potete vedere questa volta ho in serbo qualcosa di totalmente diverso per voi: alcuni potranno obiettare che sia finito un po’ fuori tema ma alla fine stiamo sempre parlando di qualcosa costruito in metallo e spinto da un motore per cui non vedo nessun tipo di problema.
The main carachter of these pages is the USS Intrepid, a huge aircraft carrier which, after 4 decades of service in US Navy has been transformed in an air museum. It can be find at
pier 86 West 46th Street on the Middle West Side in Manhattan, New York City and inside and over it there is a stunning collection of war aircrafts and helicopters, from the f14 Tomcat to the sinister Blackbird. Not to mention the Concorde which has a dedicated pavillion beside the Growler Submarine on the pier and the freshly added giant Shuttle Enterprise.
La protagonista di queste pagine è la USS Intrepid, una giganetsca portaerei che, dopo 4 decadi di onorato servizio nella Marina degli Stati Uniti, è stata trasformata in un museo galleggiante sull’aeronautica. La si può incontrare al molo 86 sulla 46esima West nel Middle West Side a Manhattan e sopra e all’interno di essa è presente una incredibile collezione di aerei ed elicotteri militari, dall’F14 Tomcat al sinistro Blackbird. Per non parlare del Concorde, unico aereo passeggeri supersonico della storia, che gode di un’area tutta sua nei pressi del sottomarino da guerra Growler e dell’ultimo arrivato, un gigantesco Space Shuttle Enterprise ospitato in un padiglione dedicato e molto suggestivo.
